Yoga in the
Summer Season
Chinese tradition believe that in summer Heaven and Earth unites. The complementary relationship of the organs related in this season are the heart; seat of consciousness and the small intestine that separate pure from impurities. Fire element dynamism enlighten our capacity to transform through fire purification which illuminate our consciousness.
Yang energy at its peak (Pitta dosha in Ayurveda) encourages vitality, action, joy and a warm & open heart.
In order not to aggravate the fire of “Pitta” and to undergo an excess of heat, it is wise to choose a moment earlier in the morning or at the end of the day to do exercises (asanas) and eat light meals with lots of cooling seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Sitali pranayama (breathing technique) is also refreshing and can cool an excess of fire in the body. This is done by inhaling through the mouth (tongue sticked out & rolled if possible), hold the breath and exhale through your nose with mouth closed. repeat 10 times.
Mantra « Aham Prema » (I am Divine Love) can be practice during summer to support in oneself the power Mama Earth energy and the Infinite possibilities of Heavenly Yang energy!
May you be blessed with a fantastic summer filled with warmth, fun, rest & rejuvenation.
Aum Shanti
